Proof of No Immediate Family Abroad/Overseas, Joining Immediate Family in China
Applicants must truthfully complete the "Application Form for Permanent Residence of Foreigners in China" and submit the following materials:
- A valid foreign passport or a document that can substitute for a passport;
- A health certificate;
- A consular authenticated document proving no criminal record abroad;
- Four recent 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color photographs;
- Proof of permanent household registration of the Chinese citizen being joined, or the foreigner's "Foreigner's Permanent Residence Permit," a notarized proof of kinship, proof that the applicant has no immediate family abroad, a notarized proof of the applicant's financial resources or a financial guarantee from the person being joined, and a notarized proof of housing rental or property ownership of either the applicant or the person being joined. Documents issued by foreign authorities must be authenticated by the Chinese embassy or consulate in that country.
The "Foreigner's Permanent Residence Permit" is a legal identification document for foreigners who have obtained permanent residence status in China to reside within the country. It can be used independently and, together with a valid passport, allows free entry and exit from China.
