New Requirements for Authentication of Birth Certificate by the Washington D.C. Office [518-956-5673]

Starting from May 2024, new requirements for birth certificate authentication services at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. have taken effect. Here is some important information you need to know:

Who can apply on behalf of others?

Any Chinese citizen aged 18 or above with full legal capacity can apply for birth certificate authentication on behalf of an applicant. If the representative is the applicant's parent or guardian, additional supporting documents are required.

What materials are needed?

• Original birth certificate
• Copy of the applicant's passport or travel document
• Copy of the representative's ID card
• Completed and signed "Consular Authentication Application Form of the People's Republic of China"
• Power of Attorney (if the representative is the applicant's parent or guardian)

How to apply?

1. Prepare all required documents.
2. Visit the website of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. to download and fill out the "Consular Authentication Application Form of the People's Republic of China."
3. Submit the application at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. or its consular section.
4. Pay the corresponding authentication fee.
