- Front and back copies of the ID cards of the applicant and both parents (3 people in total);

If the household registration does not include the parents and cannot reflect the relationship, please obtain a relationship certificate from the local police station for all three parties and scan the original document together. - Parents' marriage certificate;

All involved household registration booklets and marriage certificates (or divorce certificates and divorce agreements if the parents are divorced) must be scanned in full color, clearly and legibly. Scanning should include all pages from the cover to the back cover.
What if there is no marriage certificate? If there is no marriage certificate, provide the parents' birth certificates or a parent-child DNA test report.

Generally, when children in the U.S. want to apply for a green card for their parents in China, this issue is quite common. After all, parents in China are often older, and it’s unlikely they have their own birth certificates! In such cases, only the grandparents' death certificates can be processed.
The applicant's "Birth Medical Certificate" issued by the hospital:
- For children born out of wedlock (i.e., the child was born before the parents' marriage registration), a parent-child DNA test at the hospital is required.
- For children born in the 1990s who have lost their birth certificate, it must be reissued by the hospital; for those born in the 1960s or 1970s without a birth certificate or one-child certificate, personnel files can be provided.
- If either biological parent is deceased, a death certificate issued by the public security authority is required.
- If the Birth Medical Certificate has missing information (e.g., no name, no parents' ID numbers), alterations, or inconsistent handwriting, it must be completed at the original issuing hospital, with official seals on the altered sections, or reissued before submission.
For the U.S., a 2-inch white-background photo in electronic format is required; Canada does not require this.
