NEASC is an independent, voluntary, nonprofit membership organization that connects and serves over 1,500 public, independent, and international schools across the United States and worldwide. Founded in 1885, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) has been committed to establishing and maintaining high standards for all levels of education, more so than any other accrediting body in the United States. NEASC consists of three commissions that work closely together to ensure educational quality for all students.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is a voluntary, peer-based nonprofit association that conducts peer evaluation and accreditation for public and private colleges and universities in certain regions of the United States, as well as U.S.-affiliated foreign institutions. It is one of seven regional accrediting organizations with a history dating back 125 years and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Its headquarters is located in University City, Philadelphia.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is the regional accrediting body for degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. It serves as a common ground for shared values and practices among institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Latin America, and other international institutions approved by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. The Commission accredits institutions that award associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees. It also accepts applications from other international higher education institutions.

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is an independent, nonprofit membership organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education since 1952 as the regional authority on educational quality and institutional effectiveness for higher education institutions in the seven-state Northwest region of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. It fulfills its mission by establishing accreditation standards and evaluation procedures for assessing institutions.

The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is a U.S. organization that recognizes degree-granting colleges and universities. Its purpose is to advocate for national self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation, ensuring the quality of higher education accrediting agencies. The organization has over 3,000 institutional members and currently recognizes approximately 60 accrediting agencies. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., CHEA is a member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.
