Important Notes for Indiana Notarization and Authentication:
The office of Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson in Indianapolis provides Authentication and Apostille services for documents originating from Indiana.
Documents eligible for Apostille or Authentication include private and commercial documents, such as articles of incorporation, powers of attorney, or corporate bylaws; vital records, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates signed by an Indiana notary or government official.
If you need an Apostille for vital records, please note that certified copies must be obtained from the State Department of Health. Records issued at the county level cannot be apostilled or authenticated.
For certified copies of marriage certificates or divorce decrees requiring Apostille or Authentication, the copies must be obtained from the Circuit Court Clerk of the originating county.
If you need new certified copies of documents, please contact the Indiana Vital Records through the following website: www.in.gov/isdh
To obtain an Apostille for diplomas or transcripts issued by Purdue University, Indiana University, or the University of Notre Dame, ensure they have been properly notarized.
