To obtain a Hague Apostille or Authentication from the office of Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos in Montpelier, please follow these guidelines:
Guidelines for Vital Records (e.g., birth, death, and marriage certificates): Must be original certified copies issued by:
- Town or City Clerk
- Vermont Department of Health
- Vermont State Archivist.
Guidelines for Notarized Documents: Must be notarized by a notary public within their term. Ensure the notary includes their official seal, signature, and the date of the notarial act.
Academic Document Guidelines: Issued by institutions such as the University of Vermont, Middlebury College, Bennington College, Saint Michael's College, Norwich University, Champlain College, and SIT Graduate Institute. Please request your school registrar or principal to notarize a copy of your diploma or transcript.
