- Passport:
- Valid for more than 6 months. Provide the original passport and one photocopy of the photo/information page.
- Visa Application Form and Photo:
- Complete the "Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China" (V2013) and attach one recent (within the last 6 months) color, front-facing, bareheaded passport photo.
- Proof of Legal Stay or Residence:
- For non-U.S. citizens, provide original and photocopy of valid proof or visa for legal stay, residence, work, or study in the country of current residence.
- Previous Chinese Passport or Chinese Visa:
- For those who previously held Chinese nationality and later acquired foreign nationality, provide relevant supporting documents as specified below:
- If applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, provide the original previous Chinese passport and a photocopy of its photo/information page.
- If you have previously obtained a Chinese visa and are now applying with a newly issued foreign passport, provide a photocopy of the photo/information page of your previous foreign passport and the Chinese visa obtained.
- If the name on the foreign passport differs from that on the previous Chinese passport/Chinese visa, also provide official documentation proving the name change.
- For those who previously held Chinese nationality and later acquired foreign nationality, provide relevant supporting documents as specified below:
- Children of Chinese Descent Born in the U.S. Applying for a Visa:
- Provide the child's original birth certificate and a photocopy, original passports and photocopies of both parents' foreign permanent residence documents, and original and photocopies of entry/exit documents held (if applicable).
- Applicants for Family Reunion Must Provide:
- An invitation letter from a Chinese citizen residing in China or a foreigner with Chinese permanent residence status. The letter should include personal information of the invitee and inviter, visit details, inviter's information, etc. Additionally, provide a photocopy of the inviter's Chinese ID or foreign passport and permanent residence permit, and proof of family relationship between the applicant and the inviter.
- Applicants for Foster Care Must Provide:
- Original and photocopy of a notarized foster care power of attorney issued by a Chinese embassy/consulate abroad or notarized/authenticated in the country of residence or China. Also provide the original passport of the entrusting party and a photocopy, original and photocopy of proof of kinship between the entrusting party and the child to be fostered, a letter of consent from the entrusted party accepting foster care and a photocopy of their ID, along with other relevant supporting documents.
